LOUIS JACQUOT

Louis Jacquot’s (b. 1994, Paris, France) practice hinges on relationships between objects and pictures. The artist’s sculptural paintings combine minimalist gestures with iconographic elements. In the past, he avoided his “own” mark-making in favor of objects that are practically devoid of any graphic elements. In the few cases where pigments were applied, Jacquot chose images that could belong to anyone. This period deals with an impersonal vocabulary of generic found symbols and objects which reveal a nuanced formal interpretation of the Ready Made.
Louis Jacquot graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2020), where he presented his BFA Thesis show DNSAP (2020). Recent solo exhibitions include: Louis Jacquot: Lay (Villa Magdalena, Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain, 2024), Gilbert de Clerc (Gate 44, Milan, Italy, 2024), Jeopardy (DS Galerie, Paris, France, 2024), Check 1 2 1 2 (Fonds de Dotations Weiss, Paris, France, 2022), Jantar Mantar (Futur, Paris, France, 2019).
